  1. Hi there,

I hope you’re doing well. Just wanted to reach out to you to see if you had a need for additional contributors to your blog? If so, I’d love to send over some post ideas.

Thanks very much for your time and consideration.

  2. Hi,

I have a problem which is new for me.
Under Sliders there is already a slider called “Start”. I can’t remove it. Clicking on a button doesn’t do anything.
If I try to add another slider the following error occurs: “Maximum allowed undefined items!”
I do not know what I did wrong, after that error I installed a fresh wordpress blog and installed the theme and it happened again. I deleted the theme and installed an old version (1.1.5), same error.
    Please help!

    1. HC Themes

Hi Chris, do you get this error on the existing database, or you get it on the fresh (clean) one?

In another words, have you ever had slider working or have things got messed up with the theme update?

  3. Hi, just downloaded your awesome (PREMIUM QUALITY) theme.

Where are the standard WP widgets (usually under appearance)?

    1. HC Themes

      Hi Ambo,

unfortunately we don’t have them supported in our theme yet. But we are planning to implement them at some point in the future.

      1. Thank you for your reply. Please do so, widgets are an essential part of any WP theme. Lack of widgets might stop your GREAT theme from spreading!
Please try to implement it as soon as possible.

  4. Hi!
I’ve just downloaded and installed HC-Blog. Unfortunately the MCE visual editor does not work when the theme is activated and the theme also doesn’t save some of the settings.
All plugins are deactivated, browser and WordPress cache are all cleared. I’m running WordPress 4.4.2.

Anyone has similar issues or knows how to fix this? I really want to use the theme but like this it is not usable for me.

    Thanks for any suggestions!

    1. What I could find out is that files like “hc-custom-fields.css” refer to “http://www.domain.com/wp-content/themes/hc-blog/hc-wp/plugins/hc-custom-fields/hc-custom-fields.css?ver=1.0”. However, the wordpress installation is in a subdirectory, like “http://www.domain.com/subdirectory/”, which is why the files cannot be found.
All other themes work fine, it’s just HC-Blog that is causing this issue.

    2. Sorry, I don’t want to flood this here, but maybe it’s of use to someone.
I could confirm that HC-Blog is not working properly when WordPress is in a subdirectory, meaning that the Site URL and WordPress URL are different. HC-Blog then searches for its files in the root directory instead of the subdirectory. That is why the visual editor is not working.

And either way, it doesn’t save some settings, for example turning off the titlebar in “Front Page Settings” or turning off stuff like breadcrumbs, etc. But if the Front Page is set to a static page, the settings work.
Also, the color pickers in the Settings don’t work for me, the field is blank.

I hope that is some helpful feedback as I really want to use your theme!

    3. HC Themes

Hi Thok, we’re looking into these issues. Thanks for letting us know!

  5. i am unable to download it. it doesnot sent download link.

  6. Hi,

first of all: Thanks for that great theme :)

But I have one question: Is there a possibiltiy to Change the language? I have the problem, that some things are in german (those things which are controlled by wordpress-settings) and some things like “Continue reading” is in english. So, where can I find the php-file where I can change this.

    1. Ok, I found it in “functions.php”…

Now, there is another problem: The date of my post from 2 days ago shows “46 years ago”…any suggestions?

      Thanks EmBee

      1. HC Themes

Do you have it online so we can check what’s happening? Thanks.

About the translations, you shouldn’t edit files directly cause they will be overwritten on updates. We should make the theme translation ready, and we’ll certainly do that in one of the next updates.

        1. Thanks for the answer :) So, I’ll wait for the translation…but until I’ll fix it at the few places ;)

On this link you’ll see the problem:

What I did: Changed the time format, but now every post is 2 oder 5 or 7 HOURS ago. I expected to find the date of creating this post.

          Thanks for help :)

          1. HC Themes

We made the time format human readable. Is that fine by you, or would you like to see the regular date?

          2. Wouldn’t be a problem, if it is correct: The Post was written on Jan 15 and not 2 hours ago. Or do you have another date in your browser? In my Google Chrome it always shows something between 2 and 7 hours ago.

          3. HC Themes

Oh that’s the case. Can you tell us what are the Date and Time formats you’ve set in your General settings?

          4. The Date format is: “d.m.j” –> 18.01.2016 (set as customized) and time format is: “G:i” –> 17:33 (first possibility)

            Thx :)

          5. HC Themes

You didn’t write that correctly. Your desired date format should be: “d.m.Y”.

You’ve put “j” instead of “Y”, that’s why your dates are not showing correctly. :)

          6. Thanks, this works fine :)

            Great Support :)

          7. HC Themes

We’re happy we can help :)

  7. I have problems with the layout settings in your example Category “Load More Button”.
I choose a background image in the TITLE BAR, set the background color to white and the text color to blue and set fixed background. Then I got the following problems.
The background image is only half visible because it slides down (whereas it is fully visible when the background is not fixed).
The title stays at its place but the text color was not adopted.

    1. HC Themes

It should be fixed in the update we released today. Thank you for letting us know.

  8. Hi, great theme! But how do I turn off the lightbox?

    1. HC Themes

If you are referring to images inside the posts, when inserting them under the ATTACHMENT DISPLAY SETTINGS set Link To: None

If you want your gallery images not to open in lightbox, under the GALLERY SETTINGS set Link To: None

      1. No, I wanted to just “switch it off”. Since there is no option to do that and every time an image is linked the lightbox pops up I just renamed the jquery.magnific-popup.js file. I have another plugin for handling galleries. If there could be an option to just disable the popup, that would be great :)

        1. HC Themes

We’ll see what we can do about this, and let you know :)

    1. HC Themes

Thank you for making these bug reports to us, we appreciate it. You can report them wherever it is easier for you.

This will be fixed in the next update.

    1. HC Themes

Archive index page is a good idea. We could actually make it for the HC Blog. Give us some time to work on it, and we’ll let you know once we are done.

  9. Where can i get the Demo-Content? Thanks.

    1. HC Themes

You can find the link to demo content in the email you received when claiming your theme.

  10. FYI when I click on + Add New Slider I get an error message saying “Fieldset name is missing”

    Any suggestions?

  11. How can I make featured/hero images on post have a darker overlay by default?

    1. Hi Wayne, can you be a little more specific, I’m not sure I understand what you mean. Thanks.

      1. Hi, the top featured image on a single post that has the blog title text over it. I would like that image to be darker and would like to add a dark overlay via css

        1. HC Themes

We’ve added subtle overlay by default in our latest update.

But if you still want to change it, you can do by adding this custom css (change the color as you wish):

          .featured-image-layout-single-hero-title::after {
            background: rgba(0, 0, 0, .5);
          1. Thanks!

Speaking of updates. Do you keep a change log? If not can you add one to this page?

  12. How can I set a fixed/sticky header?

    1. HC Themes

We’ll make that option available in the next update.

      1. I appreciate your fast implementation of the “fixed header” button. There is only the problem that when I activate it the header content is shifted up and there is also a gap between the header line and the content beneath.

          1. Thank you! I found the bug. It’s the preview in wordpress what makes the difference – only there you see the problems I explained.
If you view it on the browser only it works without any shiftings an gaps.

          2. HC Themes

Thank you for letting us know. It will be fixed in the next update.

  13. Is it possible to make a single page website?

    1. HC Themes

WordPress by default has the ability to be set as one page website.

So technically yes it’s possible, although this theme’s layout is not designed to be used in that manner.

  14. Do you have any documentation to go along with the theme? trying to figure out the Shortcodes

    1. HC Themes

      Yes we have http://hcthemes.com/docs/hc-blog/

But we didn’t put the shortcodes in there, cause you have our Visual Shortcode Generator that allows you to easily insert/edit shortcodes. Be sure to click on Toolbar Toggle in your Visual Editor to enable the second row of editing icons.

  15. I made an article for your theme, and one of my readers who installed it, had nothing but problems, the screen was black, and he cpuld not check anything
    Here what he wrote
I have tested the theme and the black home menu appears, but I could not on check the boxes or anything because of a graphics bug. In addition when I activated the theme it didn’t displays images of my articles, so that it remains only ugly text. Frankly that theme is not finalized because of bugs.
Hope you can resolve these problems
